Immersed in Wonderland

After debuting on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, Immersed in Wonderland by Alexa Meade, is now taking over a sprawling 14,000-square-foot venue in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. The Wonderland dreamscape invites people to don hand-painted costumes and travel through the looking glass right into the pages of Lewis Carroll’s timeless tale. Behind each door lies new chapters filled with endless curiosities, from the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, The Queen of Heart’s House of Cards, Down the Rabbit Hole Obstacle Course, the Psychedelic Land of the Cheshire Cat, and more.

“Immersed in Wonderland gives viewers a new way of experiencing a painting — the painting is no longer confined to the rectangle of a canvas, but rather it is something that now exists in three dimensions in a space that you can actually inhabit,” Alexa Meade says. Most art exhibits have signs that say, “please don’t touch the art.” Immersed in Wonderland says, “please be part of the art.” It turns a painting into a living, breathing thing that is constantly evolving with every new person.

After the experience, guests are invited to grab a drink at the Mad Hatter’s Bar shared with Rosé Mansion, featuring charming cocktails served in teacups and the largest Rosé wine list in the country. First weekend

Across two unforgettable days, adidas Originals gathered athletes and talent to a BBQ & Basketball kick-off party hosted by Eddie Huang and Von Miller. Nick “Swaggy P” Young, A$AP Ferg, Candace Parker, Trae Young, and Liz Cambage participated in a wild Three-Point Shoot-Out while rap legend Pusha-T shut down the court with a surprise performance. The following day, guests were treated to an exclusive day festival, You Had To Be There, curated by adidas and Irv Benitez and hosted by DJs, A-Trak and Diplo.

Original artwork by Alexa Meade was featured showcasing a real-time art installation incorporating guests and talent into her canvas. Bristol Studios was also on-site dressing players for the basketball tournament and giving away custom Bristol x adidas Sport Club jerseys to guests.

The Heart of Knowledge Contest

We’ve accumulated it gathering in circles under trees and squeaky chairs in sloped lecture halls, distributed it in etchings on stone tablets and inky letters on paper pages, even sought to hide it by blindfolding interlopers and erecting paywalls out of code.

Today, the gates that keep knowledge in the hands of the few are coming down. As a global society, we are more literate, cooperative, and connected than ever before. By reading this right now, you are doing more than your early ancestors could have fathomed.

How has that access to knowledge shaped your life?

Who would you be without what you know?

Is the right to seek knowledge freely currently protected where you live?

What might a future with complete access to the sum of the world’s knowledge look like?

The Wikimedia Foundation wants to illustrate the expansive role of knowledge in human life. The contests ask for creative submissions on the theme of what open access to knowledge means. Work is being accepted in five categories: short films, visual art (including illustrations, photography, 3D renderings, etc.), poetry, short fiction, and creative essays. The deadline to submit is 11:59pm on 30 April 2019.
