Immersed in Wonderland, the interactive art exhibit created by renowned artist Alexa Meade, brings the story of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland to life through boldly painted art installations, creating a whimsical world of illusion that blurs the lines of art and reality.

After debuting on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, Immersed in Wonderland by Alexa Meade, is now taking over a sprawling 14,000-square-foot venue in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. The Wonderland dreamscape invites people to don hand-painted costumes and travel through the looking glass right into the pages of Lewis Carroll’s timeless tale. Behind each door lies new chapters filled with endless curiosities, from the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, The Queen of Heart’s House of Cards, Down the Rabbit Hole Obstacle Course, the Psychedelic Land of the Cheshire Cat, and more.

“Immersed in Wonderland gives viewers a new way of experiencing a painting — the painting is no longer confined to the rectangle of a canvas, but rather it is something that now exists in three dimensions in a space that you can actually inhabit,” Alexa Meade says. Most art exhibits have signs that say, “please don’t touch the art.” Immersed in Wonderland says, “please be part of the art.” It turns a painting into a living, breathing thing that is constantly evolving with every new person.

After the experience, guests are invited to grab a drink at the Mad Hatter’s Bar shared with Rosé Mansion, featuring charming cocktails served in teacups and the largest Rosé wine list in the country. ABOUT ALEXA MEADE

You may have seen her work in one of her immersive interactive art installation projects that went viral on Instagram or in Ariana Grande’s VMA-nominated video, God Is A Woman, which has more than 250 million views. Alexa‘s vibrant and colorful work is hard to miss, easy to recognize, and stands out in a crowd.

She has created immersive art installations for experiential events and brands around the world including: Artist in Residence for Google, Adidas at Coachella, for Patrón in Los Angeles, and for BASF in Germany and BMW in China.

Alexa has delivered keynote speeches about her work at the Wired Conference, National Geographic, and TEDGlobal. She has given lectures at the California Institute of the Arts, Stanford University, UC-Berkeley, National Geographic London, WIRED, and the TED Global Conference. Her TED talk “Your Body is my Canvas,” has been viewed millions of times. She worked with space-time researchers at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and has also painted portraits of many individuals of note, including triple Grammy Award winner Gotye. Alexa’s work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, NPR, CNN, Today Show, Nippon TV, BBC, Guardian, and hundreds of other media outlets around the world. Alexa Meade Solo Exhibition: Immersed In Wonderland

For the Solo Exhibition IMMERSED IN WONDERLAND, Alexa Meade will transform the space on Rodeo Drive into a three-dimensional art installation that will appear to be two-dimensional when photographed. Visitors stepping into an immersive art exhibition will become part of the artwork as they don hand painted clothing and accessories.

In the solo exhibition, Immersed In Wonderland, Alexa has transformed a property on iconic Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills into a painted wonderland. Unlike a traditional gallery space, Meade’s dizzying carousel of color and light starts at the door and visitors are encouraged to become part of the artwork as they interact with hand-painted clothing and accessories inside the exhibition. Acrylic paint covers the space, producing a two-dimensional illusion from solid matter — people, pianos, rocking horses — all visually flattened into the space. It’s alive, figuratively and literally, with color, vibrancy, and detail.
