ABOUT REUEL

The Las Vegas-based pianist has been a jack-of-many-musical-trades: pianist, composer, film scorer, improviser, teacher, even music education app developer. As a performer and recording artist, he spans the worlds of classical, pop, film, and EDM. He performs classical music, creative arrangements of popular music, and originals.

Reuel provides beautiful and elegantly synced video visuals in the background to coordinate with his musical arrangements. Reuel performs concerts of solo classical material, as well as solo pop piano with live string players and custom synched backing tracks. He also performs as a five-piece pop band and performs in a classically trained trio formation.

CAREER

Reuel performs regularly for performance arts centers and corporate events throughout the United States. Residing in Las Vegas, Reuel has performed his crossover piano show “Reuel Live” at Aria, Wynn, Fashion Show Mall, The Venetian, Caesar’s Palace, Four Seasons, and many other popular destinations on The Strip. Reuel also performs internationally with tours in South America, Asia, French Polynesia, and Canada.

Reuel has won 1st place at the United States Open Music Competition, DeBose International Piano Competition and the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition (Performing in the winner’s recital at Carnegie Hall). Some of Reuel’s most notable career performances include shows at The Long Center for the Performing Arts and the historic Paramount Theater in Austin, TX. Reuel has performed his crossover piano shows in venues at Caesar’s Palace, The Venetian Hotel, Four Seasons Hotel, and Hilton Resorts on Lake Las Vegas. In 2016 Reuel was the featured pianist during the christening of Holland America’s MS Koningsdam in Rotterdam by Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. He has performed for multiple charities including The American Red Cross.Reuel has received interviews on FOX News Houston, Austin American Statesman, PianoAddict.com, NSide Magazine, CultureMap Houston, and Influential Magazine. William Close and his Earth Harp Collective were back again in Monterrey, Neuvo León, México this past weekend for the annual Festival Internacional de Santa Lucía.

William Close is an installation artist, musician and visionary who has developed over one hundred new musical instruments including the famed Earth Harp. The body of The Earth Harp rests on the stage while the strings travel over the audience, extending up to 1000 ft. in length, and attach to the back of the venue, turning every space into an instrument.

William studied sculpture and sound design at the Art Institute of Chicago and his work explores the connection between architecture and music. Inspired by the Frank Lloyd Wright quote “architecture is frozen music”, Close creates musical installations that use the architecture as part of the instrument. The Earth Harp has been installed in some of the most iconic destinations in the world such as The Coliseum in Rome, The Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center in the US, The Seattle Space Needle, the temples of Vietnam, Grand Theater of Shanghai International Arts Festival, Brazil’s Theatro Municipal in São Paulo, The Dhow Harbour in Qatar, and major US festivals like Coachella, Bumbershoot, Burning Man and Lightning In A Bottle.

William Close and his Earth Harp Collective were back again in China this week. William Close played with a complex setup of The Earth Harp strings in Chengdu, China, in the Sichuan Province close to Tibet. William and the rest of his collective were already in China earlier this year for a television performance on the Chinese TV show “Beyond” with Chinese singer Lucy.

William Close: “It is so great to bring the Earth Harp to other cultures around the world in a spirit of connection and collaboration. The Earth Harp is making efforts to string the world together!!”

From the front line of the Camp Fire, the deadliest wildfire in California history, Miles O’Brien tells the stories of residents who had to flee for their lives during the 2018 fire season. Scientists race to understand what’s behind the rise of record-breaking megafires across the American West take to the forest, and even a fire lab, in search of answers. The Miles O’Brien production documentary investigates how forestry practices, climate change, and the physics of fire itself play a role in the dramatic increase in wildfires in recent decades. What can you say about a man who has done it all? He’s hiked the Denali glacier, trekked to the Ebola hot zone of Western Africa, done an aerial interview with John Glenn while piloting a small plane, toured the damaged reactors of Fukushima, anchored a CNN morning show, and trained with NASA to become the first reporter in space.

No, this isn’t a Dos Equis’ commercial for The Most Interesting Man in the World, this is the real life dedication to science, technology and aerospace journalism that Miles O’Brien lives every day.

For thirty years, Americans have tuned in to watch, learn and be amazed by the most important and interesting stories happening in science today told with the insight, honesty and humor that only Miles brings to his work.

For nearly seventeen of those years, Miles was a staff correspondent for CNN and the anchor of various programs, including American Morning. After CNN, he started MOBProd as an independent way to pursue science storytelling. He became the science correspondent for the PBS NewsHour and began to grow the MOBProd team.

Since then he’s produced and directed independent science documentaries for NOVA, been a correspondent for PBS documentary series FRONTLINE and produced the Science Nation series for the National Science Foundation. And, not surprisingly, he’s picked up a few awards along the way including several Emmys, a Peabody, and a DuPont for his coverage of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath.

While on assignment in 2014, a heavy equipment case fell on Miles’s forearm. He developed acute compartment syndrome, which necessitated the emergency amputation of his left arm above the elbow. But if you think that’s slowed him down, you’d be sorely mistaken.

Not only has his reporting and producing continued to grow steadily, he’s taken on new physical challenges completing numerous “century rides” on his bicycle, running two marathons, and recently finishing a triathlon.

Still, it’s safe to say that whatever Miles is doing, he’d rather be flying. An avid aviator, he’s logged over 2,500 hours of flight time and looks forward to returning to the skies on his own soon.
