Laura Bretan has been selected as a Eurovision Romania 2019 Semifinalist.
The Eurovision Romania pre-selection jury announced today that out of 126 entries, 24 have been selected to enter the race for a place on the stage in Tel Aviv for the 2019 International Eurovision competition. And our very own Laura Bretan, with her song “Dear Father,” is one of the 24 semifinalists competing to represent Romania!

Eurovision Romania 2019
The slogan for the 2019 national final is “Împlineste visul!” which can be translated to “Dare to Dream” or “Fulfill the Dream!”
New this year is viewer participation in choosing Romania’s winner. There will be two semifinal competitions, with 12 songs each. One will be held in Iasi in eastern Romania in the Moldavia region, and the other in Arad in western Romania, in the Banat region.
In each semifinal, the national jury will choose up to five songs and the viewers get to vote as well. Up to 12 songs will go to the finals in Bucharest. The winner will be chosen by the jury and television viewers.

Laura Bretan – America’s Got Talent
Laura Bretan was an America’s Got Talent Finalist and winner of the Gold Buzzer in 2016.

Laura Bretan was born in Chicago in April 2002 into a Romanian-American family. Encouraged by her mom, she started singing Christian music when she was four years old. At five she started to play the piano. She participated and won numerous contests and competitions.
NBC, CBS, Windy City Live, WGN, WCIU are among the TV stations that invited and interviewed Laura. She was featured in Today’s Show articles, People magazine, E!, CNN , Country Living, NBC online, Chicago Tribune as well as many other local papers.
She is a normal teenager, that besides learning new songs, studying music and going to church, loves to play outdoors with her siblings and her cousins, loves to read, to travel and to help others. She has donated her past winnings to a “Safe Haven” foundation which helps the homeless.
Laura has started vocal training in 2015 with mezzo soprano Nicoleta Roman, lyric artist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Laura participated and won Romania’s Got Talent (June 2016) which she dedicated to her beloved grandfather whom she lost in January 2016. Laura is currently homeschooled, speaks English and Romanian fluently.
She received “The Voice of An Angel” award from A Safe Haven Foundation and she also received an excellence award in Rome, Italy, from Pro Patria Organization during their International Festival.
She performed with David Foster in Beverly Hills and for the Anniversary Gala of Project Harmony at Opera Omaha. Laura toured Australia and New Zealand and joined Andre Rieu on stage for TV shows in Europe and China. Laura also performed the National Anthem for the White Sox and Chicago Bulls on several occasions and lately has been invited throughout the U.S. to sing it, fact she considers an honor!
