ALEXA MEADE TEAMS UP WITH LEGO FOR ‘REBUILD THE WORLD CREATORS’

Artist Alexa Meade, famous for her play on perspective, was invited by LEGO to team up with kids to see how they could inspire each other. Alexa combined the kids’ ideas with LEGO bricks to not only create a surreal masterpiece but also rebuild her approach to creating art in the process. The result? Re-building something truly unique.

Immersive Art

Alexa Meade is a mixed-media painter and installation artist, best known for her portraits painted on the human body and set against painted backgrounds, that turn real life people into seemingly 2D works of art.

She takes a classical concept — trompe l’oeil, the art of making a two-dimensional representation look three-dimensional—and works in an opposite direction. Her aim is to do the opposite, to collapse depth and make her living models into flat pictures. The result is walking, talking optical illusions, 3D paintings that confuse how the eye processes objects in space.

Corporate Installations

Alexa has created immersive art installations for experiential events and brands around the world including: Artist in Residence for Google, Adidas at Coachella, for Patrón in Los Angeles, and for BASF in Germany and BMW in China.

In corporate event settings her work is customized to incorporate attendees, who have opportunities to photograph themselves within the artwork, and post photos for colleagues and friends through social media outlets. The photographs inevitably go viral on social media platforms, thereby extending the memories and publicity buzz of the event.
